Hi Lennard,

I am still riding that ol’ bike you guys made for me.  I think it may be about 15 years old now, but it is still going strong!  Funny how Ti is now sort of retro classic – vs say an aero cervelo.  But hey, it fits.  And it keeps on truckin’.  I rode it today for about 2:45 which is longest ride so far this year.  We had a late xc ski season and I managed skiing right through the first week of April.  I don’t touch the bike until 2 or 3 weeks after skiing – to let it warm up.
I have followed your heart story with some interest – if you may remember I rode with you in Boulder once when your condition was very new to you.  Then about a year later I had a friend around here develop the same condition (at about 65) then he had a heart attack and he didn’t follow doctors orders and he stopped taking the drugs when he felt better and then he died suddenly.  It is serious business to follow doctors orders and take the meds if necessary, etc.  He had a hard time dealing with not doing TT any more.  He was just recently before that state champ in his age group.
If I could do this bike again – I would have made one major change – the second s&s coupler is too far away from the bottom bracket – so to get my sized frame into the case is a real hassle.  If that coupler were a bit lower closer to the BB, then it would all go in much smoother (with the crankset still attached).  ALSO – I would put two couplers on the top tube – which would really break it all down a lot smaller.  So 3 couplers (not 2, and 4 is not necessary).
I like your electric bike stories, and I think it is fantastic.  At some point I will get a commuter of some kind as electric – for those too hot to ride to work in nice clothes and not need a shower days in the middle of the summer when I feel forced to drive so I don’t need to take a shower when I get there.
