Time trial bikes in the mid-1980s consisted of a small, narrow front wheel and a low, cow-horn handlebar. Lennard’s conversion fork allowed someone to have a time trial bike in a matter of minutes from their existing road bike. The real benefit of the small front wheel was the ability to ride closely together in team time trial events. The Zinn-Alfalfa’s-Shimano team used the conversion fork many times in their team time trial in the Ore-Ida Women’s Classic in Idaho, the biggest women’s stage race at the time.
