Lennard and Sonny, along with Karen Hornbostel, start Team Zinn/Alfalfa’s/Shimano, Colorado’s first all-women’s cycling team. The big manufacturers were not offering high-end racing bikes in small sizes, and with the team riders raving about the fit and performance of their custom Zinn bikes, the majority Zinn bike customers in the mid 1980s are women. The Zinn women’s team would continue on for another eight years, winning numerous races, including many state and national championships.
